ABOUT THE CLIENT

Our client is an established interior design agency, specialising in crafting interiors that are open, airy, and imbued with sophisticated restraint. The designer’s approach is consultative, functioning more as a guide than an enforcer of a particular style.

They prioritise creating spaces that are reflective of the client’s aesthetic and practical needs, and their portfolio includes a blend of contemporary and traditional designs. At the core of their practice is a commitment to quality materials and craftsmanship.

SITUATION

The original website of the agency felt disconnected from its refined aesthetic and consultative ethos. Aged in design and structure, the site wasn’t effectively communicating the designer’s nuanced approach to interiors. In addition, the content on the site seemed to lean on words like “sophisticated” and “restrained,” which had started to sound pretentious and limiting in scope to the designer.

OUR APPROACH

The primary focus of the redesign was to create a digital space that encapsulated the agency’s philosophy and services effectively. We aimed to develop a site that was both modern and timeless, much like the interiors the agency designs. The first step involved comprehensive interviews with the designer to understand their evolving preferences, which had moved away from more pretentious terms, yet still embraced the concept of restrained elegance.

THE TRANSFORMATION

The new website mirrors the ethos of the designer: it’s open, airy, and straightforward, yet subtly imbued with an underlying sophistication. We intentionally eschewed any taglines or content that leaned too heavily on notions of being ‘sophisticated’ or ‘restrained,’ instead opting for language that described the designer’s role as a guide in the often overwhelming process of home or office renovation.

Special emphasis was placed on a portfolio section that showcased the range of styles the designer had successfully tackled—from modern to traditional—all unified by an uncluttered aesthetic. A blog section was also introduced, where the designer could share insights and tips, thereby introducing clients to ideas they might not have considered otherwise. The site was optimised for responsiveness to ensure a seamless experience across all devices.
